What Is a Digital Product?

Digital products are downloadable or accessible items delivered online—think PDFs, templates, eBooks, checklists, digital planners, lead magnets, or mini-courses. They’re a great way to share your knowledge with your audience, to grow your email list, or generate passive income.

Pagewheel helps you build all of these products and more, without the need of having to hire a designer or developer. Now, you might be saying to yourself, “But I'm not so creative, and can't design anything worth a crap!” I say, don't worry! Pagewheel is gonna help you take care of ALL of that so you don't have to stress.

Step 1: Click “Create Product”

After logging in to your Pagewheel dashboard, your first stop is the “Create Digital Product” button. It’s located at the top-right of your dashboard OR in the main dashboard menu under “Products.” We've found the locations in our Pagewheel Dashboard Guide.

Clicking this opens a step-by-step product creation flow that guides you through naming your product and selecting a layout.

Step 2: Choose Ready Made Templates or AI Assisted

Pagewheel gives you two great options to begin the creation of your first ever digital product on the platform. However, you can upload your own .pdf, but we will get to that part soon enough! Pagewheel lets you:

  1. Use professionally designed template packs – You can add as many different packs to choose from, and then keep or delete whatever pages you like! Very little editing is needed, unless you are customzing them for your needs with extra bells and whistles of information! (Something that I always recommend).
  2. Page by Page Product Builder – Ai is your sidekick in helping you to fill in and outline content to give you the head start and ease of creating digital products. Of course, always be sure to double-check any information Ai writes, and then edit it for your own tone of voice. But it does a pretty amazing job!

If you’re a first-time user, I recommend in choosing a template. Templates help you get started fast and give you pre-structured pages like:

  • Offer (sales) page
  • Delivery page
  • Downloadable file (like a journal, planner, workbook, etc.)

Each section comes with suggested content and formatting. All you have to do is customize it with your own information, branding, and any extra special magic that makes you…YOU. This is a step that happens after we build a digital product.

After you click on “Ready To Edit Products”, you will be given choices of different template packs to choose from.

Step 3: Edit Your Template Packs

You're now at the place where you can choose your template batches! Pagewheel calls them batches because there are batches, or packs, of templates together. One of the best parts about this section is that you can filter the batches by your NICHE and/or TOPIC.

Narrow Down Your Niche and Topic

I chose the Niche “Food” and narrowed it down to “Healthy Living”. I'm going to create a Healthy Habits Workbook for (WITH) you! It already started pulling out amazing pages and calendars. If you're following along in your own dashboard, then you'll see what I'm talking about.

View The Pages In Your Batches

You choose the batches by simply clicking on them. When you click on them, the batches will pop up individually so you can see the pages included in them. This way you know what pages you might want to delete or duplicate to add more pages!

Once you're ready to go to the next step, Ready to edit button! This all part of “Following the Yellow Brick Road!” Everything is step by step.

Now We EASILY Design In Pagewheel

All you have to do is easily choose your color swatch palette (SO MANY TO CHOOSE FROM!) and your font pairings. These are pretty much the most difficult decisions you're going to make. Seriously! Also, if you already have your branding color, that's amazing! You can easily copy your Hex code into the “Add Custom Colors” section! Easy Peasy. Right?

Once you're done with this part, Follow the Yellow Brick Road and click “Looks Good!! Next” button. I chose the Poppins combo and I scrolled to get this beautiful greens and blues color pallete.

Step 4: Titles, Covers, and Mockkups, Oh My!

✍️ Name Your Product

First things first, we have to start by giving your product a name. This can be as simple as:

  • “Free Spring Cleaning Checklist”
  • “3-Day Email Challenge”
  • “Healthy Habits Workbook”

You can change the name later, so don’t stress if it’s not perfect. Just name it. Don't overthink it. Plus, if you're stuck on a title and/or subtitle, click on the AI buttons to help create different variations and verbiage for you! Click on what you like, and even edit.

✍️ Choose Your Cover

This is the fun part! There are so many amazing covers to choose from. BUT, if you don't like the cover options you can always choose, “No Cover” and upload a .pdf file to be your cover! it's so fabulous! I like choosing a cover from the Pagewheel selection because it's LESS WORK FOR ME! And that's something I think we can all love.

✍️ Choose Your Mockup

You have 3 different choices to choose from! This is going to be the main image on your sales page. Of course, you'll always be able to change that later, if you wish. They're easy steps to take to change things, and you'll easily learn that by playing around with the intuitive design blocks!

You can see it update in REAL TIME! No having to wait. The magic happens now! Once you're happy, then you can do what? Follow The Yellow Brick Road! Click on Looks Good!! Next.

Step 5: Edit The Pages In Your Digital Product

edit pagewheel content pages

Now the Fun Begins again!

YOU Can choose to edit the pages with different words, swap the pages around, add an extra page or two, delete a page or two, favorite a page…but it's all up to you! Make sure your pages make sense together. Did you forget a page or want to add extra features like, an About Page or Thank you Page? Then click on the “ADD A PAGE” You'll have so much more fun…right at your finger tips!

It doesn't get much easier to add content pages!

Reorganize Your Pages

The best way to reorganize your pages to see the overall picture is to click on the grid view. It's the 9-box icon on the left-hand side. Then you'll see something like the image below. You'll be able to click, drag, and drop (by unclicking and dragging with the mouse/mouse pad). It's a great way to reorder everything!

Follow the Yellow Brick Road, and click on Looks Good!! Next. You can quickly flip through your pages and then click on the “APPROVED!! Publish Product” button.

Then you'll want to click on Create my website to promote my product button.

Step 6: Customize Your Product Pages

Once you’ve chosen a template, you’ll land inside the Page Builder—your drag-and-drop editing space where you can tweak the product’s content and design. The most amazing part is that your Offer page is LITERALLY DONE!

The verbiage is done. The color scheme is done. The images are done. The about you is done. It's all Done. Now you just have to see if you like the verbiage and sections.

What You’ll See When Following The Yellow Brick Road

  • Offer Page: This is your landing or sales page.
  • Delivery Page: This is where people access your product after opting in or purchasing.
  • Optional PDF/Download Pages: For planners, guides, and checklists.

🔧 Customizing the Offer Page

This is the page people see before they get your product. You can:

  • Change the headline and subhead
  • Add your product description
  • Upload a mockup or image
  • Update the call-to-action (CTA) button
  • Customize colors and fonts

I always like to hide the phone number and last names parts of the bottom section of where people will sign up for your digital product. I don't need it, but some will!

Then you can choose your pricing. If it's a lead magnet, you can keep it free. If you want to sell it, then click the My Price and you'll change your price there. Easy! You'll just want to ensure to add your Stripe account into your payment processing (again..super easy to do! Pagewheel has a simple way to show it all to you). It's a super intuitive process!

💡 Pro Tip: Use Pagewheel’s AI Page Assistant to auto-generate product blurbs, benefit lists, and even testimonials.

🧰 Customize the Delivery Page

This page is what users see after they sign up or pay. You can:

  • Add a thank-you message
  • Link to your product file or video
  • Embed extra resources (like bonus checklists or videos)
  • Customize branding for consistency
  • Add links to buttons for a Facebook Group or maybe a limited time offer for a product! Advanced Pro Tip: If you already create a digital product in Pagewheel, you can grab that link to it and place in a Button on the page for a FOMO Purchase Price.

You want this page to feel just as polished as your offer page—it’s part of the customer experience!

Upload Your Digital Product .PDF File

Pagewheel lets you upload downloadable files directly or generate a digital document inside the platform (like a multi-page checklist, planner, or workbook).

Two Common Options:

  • Upload a PDF: Great if you’ve already designed your product in Canva, Word, or another tool. You'll still be able to customize your Offer page and Delivery page!
  • Use Pagewheel’s Page Builder to create your document within the platform — perfect for lead magnets like checklists or guides.

You can even combine these approaches by linking a PDF download and providing bonus content on the delivery page. SO if you already have a digital product created, then Pagewheel is your FABULOUS Tool to help save you the tech headaches and time! Just follow the yellow brick road!

Step 7: Preview Your Product

Once you’ve customized your pages and uploaded any files, it’s time to preview your work.

👁️ What to Check:

  • Mobile and desktop versions (easy buttons to click without any issues)
  • CTA button links (Make sure your links are properly working and not broken by mistake of copying and pasting the wrong link or not the full link. example: a missing “h” in https:??)
  • Spelling and grammar
  • Download/file access
  • Overall branding and style

Pagewheel’s preview tool makes it easy to see exactly what your audience will experience.

Step 8: Publish and Share

Feeling good about your product? Time to publish!

Click the “Publish” button at the top right of the builder, and Pagewheel will give you a live URL for your product. This is the link you can share on:

  • Instagram bio
  • Blog sidebar
  • Facebook group
  • Email newsletter
  • Pinterest pin

You don’t need a separate website, landing page tool, or shopping cart — it’s all built-in. You can approve! You'll see the Meta data that search engines see. Don't like the image? Then click on the double arrows to change it! You can even paste in tracking pixels. WOWZERS! Now Follow the Yellow Brick Road.

Time To Edit Delivery Email

The email is ALREADY written for you! Just add some of your own charm and panache to it, if you feel it needs a little zhuzhing.

Now you it's time to Follow That Yellow Brick Road and see all of your links to share!

You Can Now Review Your Final Product

So, I”m sure you are curious as all get out to see what final product I created. You can easily find it here by signing up for my free lead magnet!

  • Write headlines and blurbs
  • Create persuasive sales copy
  • Draft thank-you messages
